A field is emerging and its foundations are still being written.
Psychedelic medicine is entering a new era.
Across Europe and beyond, governments, universities, healthcare systems, and private clinics are investing in research, regulation, and clinical implementation. New therapies are emerging, professional standards are evolving and entire healthcare ecosystems are beginning to take shape.
This moment is unprecedented and it is also incomplete.
Much of the conversation has focused on molecules, protocols, and outcomes. Far less attention has been given to the knowledge systems that have stewarded many of these medicines across millennia: not as compounds alone, but as relationships between people, place, community, spiritual protocol, natural connection and responsibility.
The question is no longer whether psychedelic care will grow.
The question is what it will grow into.

Two Knowledge Systems, One Future
Psilocybin and other psychedelic compounds are entering clinics, universities, and healthcare systems around the world. This is an extraordinary moment—one that is reshaping medicine, mental health, and our understanding of human healing.
At the same time, these medicines have long existed within living knowledge systems, woven through relationships with place, language, ceremony, community, and responsibility. Alongside advances in neuroscience and clinical research lies an equally important opportunity: to learn with the traditions that have stewarded these medicines across generations.
The future of psychedelic care will be shaped not only by scientific discovery, but by the quality of the relationships we build across knowledge systems.
The Psychedelic Futures Institute exists to cultivate enduring partnerships between Indigenous communities, researchers, clinicians, and practitioners, creating professional education that brings these ways of knowing into dialogue through reciprocity, scientific rigor, and long-term stewardship.

Our role is to create the conditions for these knowledge systems to learn with one another—through professional education built on scientific rigor, ethical partnership, reciprocity, and long-term stewardship.

Every programme is co-created with the communities who carry the tradition itself. Together, we determine what is shared, how it is shared, and where the boundaries of the programme belong. Learning begins with relationship, trust, and respect for the integrity of living traditions.
Every partnership is designed to create enduring value for the communities involved. A defined share of programme revenue supports community-led initiatives, while governance, authorship, and decision-making remain part of the relationship. Reciprocity is not an outcome of our work—it is part of its architecture.

No single knowledge system is sufficient for the future of psychedelic care. Every programme brings together contemporary research, clinical practice, and living traditions in a spirit of dialogue—allowing each to contribute from its own strengths while preserving its own integrity.
The Fellowships
Learn directly with living traditions, starting with context first.
Each fellowship combines live online learning, interdisciplinary faculty, and immersive in-person experiences designed to build respectful bridges between contemporary psychedelic practice and living traditions.
A professional fellowship taught with Mazatec teachers from the Sierra Mazateca, Oaxaca. Live online journeys with Mazatec and Western faculty, plus a multi-day in-person intensive in the Netherlands. Built for psychedelic therapists, facilitators, clinic founders, and researchers who are actively working with people.
